In this article I am going to look at the principle of ” build in silence”.

The act of building in silence has an invincible power of its own as  nobody has the slightest idea of what you are working on until success does the speaking for you.

The advantage of this is that you become the underdog and keeps doubters, naysayers and jealous people at bay.

With this you are at liberty to do your thing without the pressure of succeeding at all courses.

What Does It Mean To Build In Silence?

Build in silence refers to the practice of working on your goals, projects, or ambitions without seeking external validation or attention. It involves keeping your progress and plans relatively private, allowing your actions and results to speak for themselves.

This approach can help you maintain focus, avoid  distractions, and ultimately achieve your objectives without being swayed by others’ opinions or judgments.

Basically, building in silence comes with a lot of advantages which I am going to present to you, so that you can embrace this culture of working in silence, so that you are not liken to the empty drums that makes the loudest noise. 

A noisy person lacks substance, and always seeks validation from others.

This mindset and behavior however, is a clear departure of the person who gets stuff done and is very successful.

What Do You Gain From Building In Silence?

In this section I am going to share a few of the gains. Although they are more, we are going to look at the most important and necessary ones below:

Maintaining Laser Focus: To achieve anything significant in a world filled with distractions especially from friends, family, and news media, as well as social media. Your focus on the tasks you need to achieve success must be topnotch. This focus can be enhanced by how badly you want success and the intensity of your motivation. Achieving and maintaining this level of focus comes with practice and deliberate action. It’s a quality that is needed if you want the gains of success.

Personal Growth: Personal and self growth is a quality of a person who is building solutions and innovating their way to the top.

You need to always be learning new things both technically, and developing soft skills to help you attract support and funding when you need one.

If you look at anyone who has recorded significant success as a founder or business owner, you will notice they are walking encyclopedias, knowledgeable in their field and always willing to learn new things.  As they always embrace new directions when one presents itself.

Ability to stay open is one of the gains of working in silence.

Increase Productivity: Oftentimes we confuse being very busy with being productive. This is what many people in the workplace are yet to understand.

They believe working very long hours pushing files and reading emails equates to being productive.

When you build in the confine of your space quietly, you have to survive and succeed by being very productive.

This means you have to embrace Pareto’s law, otherwise known as the 80/20 rules. According To Tech target, the Pareto principle, also known as the 80/20 rule, is a theory maintaining that 80 percent of the output from a given situation or system is determined by 20 percent of the input.

  This states that 80% of our efforts produce 20% of our results.

However, we want to get to the point where just 20% of the work we do yields 80% of our results.

Another aspect of this is focusing only on the important tasks and attacking them in a shorter time.

This is what being productive means and that’s what we all aim to achieve in order to find success in life.

Building a Strong Work Ethics: A strong work ethic refers to a set of values, principles, and behaviors that prioritize and emphasize hard work, dedication, and responsibility in one’s professional life.

It involves consistently demonstrating commitment to your job or tasks, and taking pride in your work, while upholding certain moral and professional standards.

Here are some key components of a strong work ethic: reliability, diligence, punctuality, accountability, integrity, efficiency, and continuous improvement. 

You need to inculcate all these to be effective as well as efficient when working and building in silence.

Reduce External Pressure: One of the benefits of working on your own project is the lack of pressure you enjoy from external sources such as  bosses and superiors.

While some pressure is good to keep you on your feets, you could easily counteract that when you develop a strong work  ethic of diligence, efficiency, punctuality, reliability and other qualities.

Be An Inspiration to Others: Success they say has many relatives, but failure is an orphan.

If you succeed at what you do, you can win the admiration of a lot of up and coming entrepreneurs, students and even normal everyday people who are looking for a way to get from here to there.

You can become a mentor and show them the easiest way to reach success by sharing the habits and strategies that work for you.

Reduce Comparison: When you walk in silence alone, people don’t necessarily know what you are up to.

And so, there’s little or no comparison between you and others.

They only see you minding your business, and join you to celebrate your little wins.

This increases the respect people have for you. People respect you when they don’t have anything about you they can gossip about.

And according to the law of supply and demand which also applies to human relationships.

When your supply is more than the demand of your presence and time, your value goes down.

To correct this and regain your value, you must decrease your supply in order for your demand to go up.

Building  in silence can be the best antidote to negativity, jealousy and hatred.

Increase Self-Confidence: When you succeed at something, you develop confidence to go out and take on bigger tasks.

Confidence is one of the key qualities of an achiever. It comes from having small wins, and undertaking challenging tasks.

Example of this is a serial entrepreneur with multiple successful exits in business. Elon Musk’s self confidence kept soaring high from the days of his humble beginnings when he founded Zip2, and subsequently co-founded several companies that have achieved significant success and have been involved in multiple exits:

Zip2 Corporation: Musk co-founded Zip2, a city guide software for newspapers, in 1996. Compaq acquired Zip2 in 1999 for approximately $307 million.

PayPal: Musk co-founded X.com, an online payment company, in 1999. X.com later became PayPal after a merger. In 2002, eBay acquired PayPal for $1.5 billion in stock.

Tesla Inc.: Musk joined Tesla Motors (now Tesla, Inc.) in its early days and played a crucial role in its development. Although he didn’t found the company, his involvement and leadership have been instrumental in its success. Tesla has achieved significant market capitalization and is a prominent player in the electric vehicle industry.

He also founded SpaceX, which has recorded many successes. You can glean Elon progression, with each success is confidence and capacity to handle bigger challenges grows.

This to me is one of the gains of building in silence.

Ability To Reinvent Yourself Each Time: Reinventing yourself  means to make a substantial and often dramatic change in your life, typically in terms of your identity, career, or personal attributes.

It involves a deliberate effort to transform who you are or how you present yourself to the world.

This is necessary because life will bring many conditions and situations that will cause you to adapt to new ways of living. However, People may seek to reinvent themselves for various reasons, such as personal growth, adapting to new circumstances, pursuing new goals, or leaving behind a previous identity or lifestyle.

This process can include changes in mindset, behaviors, appearance, and even career choices, with the aim of becoming a different and improved version of oneself.

This may often happen to a person who is working assiduously to make their goals a reality.

 Law 3 says: Conceal Your Intentions- which means people don’t necessarily need to know what you are up to at all times, else they will try to throw a spanner in the works.

Law 4 says: Always say Less than it is Necessary. By talking less, you maintain a mystique around you which makes people respect you and keep guessing what your next move may be
